TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THE KESSINGLAND SITE.

 

Will all members please note that, at the request of the Kessingland site owners, the lake will not be available to access or fish from the 26th August 2026 until the 30th August 2026 inclusive. 

The water will be available for members to fish again on Bank Holiday Monday, 31st August.

The Committee and Lake Owners apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Specimen Crucian

 

Specimen Crucian in Sherwood Water.

Danny Sherppard put a lot of effort in for crucian on Sherwood Water Pit 1 and was well rewarded with a

1lb 12oz specimen.

Congratulations Danny what a fantastic prize and that smile says is all.

CAUTION ‼️‼️

 

Please be aware that peg 5 on Sherwood Water (Pit 1 Reydon ) is closed until further notice due to a big WASP nest in the bush.

We have taken the action to close the peg due to safety concerns as a committee member was stung 3 times yesterday whilst fishing in the peg. The committee member in question is ok, he alerted the society to the issue and we are taking steps to deal with the situation as soon as possible.

We would like to thank you for your support and patience in this matter.

" Another fantastic session on Reydon |Pits, Day ticket on Sherwood Water. Once again with Albie smashing it with 6 Carp to just over 14lb. Even i managed to get in on the action, with 2 hard fighting commons to 14lb. The Tench weren't so willing feeders this time but Albie did manage a lovely looking fish of just over 5lb. Safe to say we will be back to target some of the lakes bigger carp."

Well done to all the anglers over the weekend, Sherwood Water was fishing so well yet again!

With some very dark colours being landed. The lake fished well for Tench too.

It was really nice to see some new faces on the lake as well, everyone seemed to have success.

Signs for New Rule

Signs for a new rule, together with contact information should it be needed, are now in place on the gates. Members can also find contact names and numbers on your membership cards which you should have with you at all times when on site.

NEW SAFETY RULE AND GENERAL REMINDERS

The committee have observed an increasing trend of anglers entering into the water to release fish, particularly carp. Whilst the benefit for fish welfare is a positive one, it does raise the issues of health and safety and insurance. The Committee are aware that some venues insist on this approach whilst others have banned it on safety grounds. Having discussed the matter, the committee have agreed that health and safety must take priority, particularly as there are a limited number of pegs with adjacent shallow areas on our waters.

Consequently, the Committee have agreed that the following rule will be applied with immediate effect with members being asked to ratify it at the next annual general meeting.

No entering the water except for maintenance purposes by authorised persons with adequate safety equipment.

Should an incident occur where a fish becomes tethered, anglers are requested to telephone a bailiff or committee member so that appropriate action and support can be given as soon as possible. There is also a need to remind all anglers and visitors to our sites that they need to be mindful of our neighbours.

Please observe our opening and closing times, they are clearly displayed on all gates and are times you are permitted on site, not set up / pack up times. Please also observe our self imposed speed limits of 20mph along the access track at Kessingland and through the housing estate in Reydon. Finally, please turn car radios off when entering and leaving the Reydon complex as we continue to get complaints from neighbours about this.
